Median income among Kenyans in wage employment

The median income is the amount that divides the population into two halves, such that half of the population earns below that income and the other half earns above it.

In Kenya, a majority of the working population is employed informally, and their incomes remain unknown, making the tabulation of the median income impossible.

However, since we know the number of Kenyans in wage employment and their earnings, we can calculate the median income of these individuals.

In 2024, Kenyans in wage employment had a median income of Ksh 58,611, indicating that half of the individuals in wage employment earned above this amount, while the other half earned below it.
