Introduction

Bomet County is located in Rift Valley and had a total population of 953,000 in 2024. The county had a total population of 875,689, according to the 2019 census. The total number of households in Bomet was 187,641, with the average household in the county having 4.7 people.

Bomet County has a total land area of 2,530.9 square kilometers and had a population density of 346 people per square kilometer in 2019. 

Bomet County is bordered to the North by Kericho County, the North East by Nakuru County, the South and East by Narok County, and the West by Nyamira County.

The county's average contribution to agriculture, forestry, and fishing between 2018 and 2022 was 3.6%, while its average contribution to manufacturing activities within the same period was 1.4%. Bomet contributed, on average, 0.8% to service activities.

Marital Status

The percentage distribution of women aged 12 and above in Bomet County who were never married in 2019 was 42.7%. Bomet County Finance

In the financial year (FY) 2023/24, Bomet County approved a supplementary budget of Ksh 8.52 billion, comprising Ksh 2.39 billion (28%) and Ksh 6.13 billion (72%) allocation for development and recurrent expenditures, respectively.

The budget estimates represented an increase of 2.8% compared to the previous year when it was Ksh 8.29 billion and comprised Ksh 2.44 billion for development and Ksh 5.85 billion for recurrent expenditures.
