CDF allocation to constituencies has more than doubled since 2014
Every year, the national government is required by law to avail at least 2.5% of its revenue to constituencies through the Constituencies Development Fund (CDF).
In 2025, the national government allocated a total of Ksh 51.8 billion to constituencies. This represents a 135.9% increase from the Ksh 22 billion allocated to constituencies in FY 2013/2014.
Overall, the total amount of money allocated to constituencies through the constituency development fund is Ksh 435 billion since FY 2013/2014.
Nairobi County received the highest CDF allocation in FY 2024/2025
Every county in Kenya consists of a number of constituencies. Adding the CDF allocation for all constituencies in each county, therefore, gives us the total for that county.
In FY 2024/2025, Nairobi County had the highest CDF allocation, with a total of Ksh 3 billion. This is because Nairobi has the highest number of constituencies, with 16 of them.
