Population of Kenya 2024

Kenya’s population in 2024 was 52,428,000, up from the total enumerated population of 47,564,296 in 2019.[1][2] Nairobi is still the most populous county in Kenya, with a population of 4,672,000, followed by Kiambu, with a population of 2,602,000. Counties with the lowest population were Lamu, with 172,000 people; Isiolo, 323,000; and Samburu, 358,000.

Kenya’s population is projected to reach 70.2 million in 2045, up from 48.8 million in 2020. The chart below shows Kenya's population trend from 2020 to 2045.

This is a line graph showing the trend in Kenya's population from 2020 to 2045. Kenya's population will continue increasing.

These projections are determined by considering Kenya’s mortality and total fertility rates. Additionally, the projected population of the counties is derived from both fertility and mortality estimates and migratory trends
